I didn’t have a typical childhood. While most kids were heading off to elementary school, I was wrapping up early-morning martial arts training. My dedication paid off—I became the youngest inductee into the National Black Belt League Hall of Fame and later achieved a World Championship title.
Growing up immersed in a martial arts school, I naturally became involved in the business side of things. By 15, I was traveling to business masterminds, sharpening my skills in sales, systems, training, and marketing. One of those coaches, who was the marketing director for one of the fastest-growing fitness franchises in the U.S., later hired me to work for his marketing company, which became one of the largest digital marketing agencies in the martial arts industry.
What I’ve learned is that being a world-class athlete and a successful business owner aren’t all that different. As an athlete, you don’t have to be a physical therapist or a personal trainer, but you absolutely need those experts on your team to succeed. The same is true in business—you need specialists who can take on what they do best so you can focus on excelling in your unique role.
